Report: Melvin Guillard vs. Spencer Fisher At UFC 90

Melvin Guillard is coming off a KO win over Dennis Siver at UFC 86…Fisher is coming off a decision win over Jeremy Stephens at the TUF 7 Finale. This is an interesting matchup in that besides Fisher, Joe Stevenson is the only other high profile fight Guillard has had in the UFC. He was subbed by Stevenson in under a minute. Fisher’s trainer is upset in that he doesn’t think this fight does anything for Fisher…in that if he wins…he was supposed to. I would have to agree…and given that both like to stand and bang…there’s a 50/50 chance that Guillard could catch Fisher. UFC 90 is beginning to shape up nicely just as 87, 88, and 89 have done.

I agree….Spencer really has nothing to gain in this bout….and quite a bit to lose in a bout against a pretty dangerous opponent (considering Melvin has his mind right).

I think Spencer has the quicker hands and will most likely dominate this fight anywhere it goes. Josh Neer is Spencer’s training partner and he put Melvin in a Triangle, and Spencer is better than Neer on the ground. I think the UFC just wants to see some fights get finished. Fisher by KO.

I dunno man…Guillard was DOMINATING Neer before getting caught in the triangle late…Fisher would be smart to take this fight to the ground. If Hermes Franca can rock Fisher with a punch….surely Guillard is capable.

Hermes Franca threw the right hand that caught Spenc from behind his knee and with his head down… watch it. Spencer “The King” Fisher has never, EVER, been knocked out or finished besides with Hermes Franca and Hermes never knocked him down, he just simply got caught, also the referee in the fight was new to the UFC and has not since been back that I am aware of. Spencer Fisher will win the belt in 09′. Period.
